   Say, you want to promote a “free makeover gift card”, you would type in the keyword makeover to see how many people are searching for the targeted keyword per month.
   Say, about 4 million searches are recorded for the keyword makeover, then it appears that you can get a good amount of traffic in this market. If a CPA offer does not have much search volume for its most relevant keyword then it’s not worth promoting the offer.
2. Google Insights  http://www.google.com/insights/search
   This tool allows you to compare search volume patterns across specific regions, categories and time frames.
   Say, typing in the word “ringtones”. Using Google insights, it is clear that while the search volume for ringtones is high enough but it was at its peak in 2004. The search volume for 2009 is at 40% of 2004.
   This helps you to know the trend of demand for the particular keyword.
3. Google Trends  http://www.google.com/trends
   You can also gauge demand on Google trends which allows you to see the trend for keywords over a period of time. Using the keyword “Valentine Cards” shows that search volume is at its peak in the month of February.
4. Ebay  http://pulse.ebay.com
   Ebay.com is the single largest marketplace of buyers and sellers on the internet. You can gauge what is currently hot by looking at what is selling on Ebay. Using the URL above, you can clearly see what the most popular search terms are.
5. Lycos Top 50  http://50.lycos.com
   Lycos also provides data for the most popular keywords searched for in the last week. This result is important because they indicate trends and events in the search market.
   It is important to watch and read what is currently popular and go out and find related CPA offers that you can promote on Pay-par-click search engines.

Gauging Competition

Next, you need to gauge the competition.

One quick way to see how many offers are running a CPA lead offer that you intend to promote is to simply type in the most relevant keyword for that CPA offer into Google, MSN or Yahoo and get an idea of how many sponsored ad listings are showing.

There is an opportunity if you find a highly searched keyword with very little ads running. These keywords could well be the key to getting you a lot of leads to your targeted CPA offer.

Also finding a CPA offer in a market that is highly competitive is not necessarily a bad thing. It means that the offer is in demand and the people promoting it are making money. If you can find an obscure keyword for a competitive market or even just write a better ad copy than you competitors, then, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to compete in the market.

There are free tools on the internet that allow you to compare CPA offers across multiple networks. These tools help you locate the highest paying offers in a particular market.

When filling out an application, don’t make it look like you are a beginner. CPA networks don’t want people who are new to CPA marketing as beginners task their time and resources.
